Unity,Peace and Progress in Diversity

India is the second largest populous nation next to China. Over 1.2 billion people live in this country.One of the oldest civilizations of the world. Indians follow many religions mainly Hinduism followed by Islam and Christianity. Buddhism,Jainism and Sikhism are other religions followed by many people.In addition Zoroastrianism and Judaism came much before Christianity. In Hinduism there are many castes and sub-divisions in castes making upto more than thousands of castes with so many different languages spoken all over India. Complexity of caste,color,creed and religion does not deter the march towards the prosperity of this great nation. It now stands at twelth largest economy power in terms of GDP in the world. India is the fourth largest in purchasing power according PPP theory ( Purchasing power parity). Though Indian society is pluralistic, multilingual and multiethnic in nature still clashes between different religions take place in different parts of this country. Majority of the population still reeling under poverty, illiteracy and unemployed irrespective of their religion. Measures are taken by subsequent Governments to eradicate these problems but still they are not totally wiped out. With all these drawbacks India has one of the largest number of technically qualified man power in the world. Majority of population is tolerant towards other religions and practices. Places of worships of any religion can be seen all over India,for example, you may come across a Hindu temple near a place where population of Muslims are high and vice versa. Even participation of Muslims in Hindu festivals and Hindus in Muslim festivals is a common sight in this country. Like wise is the case with other religions including Christianity. Diversity in all spheres does not disturb the economic growth and properity of this country. Unity, Peace and Progress is achieved in diversity. One day this great nation will emerge and stay on par with the best economic countries of the world. Those days are not far off. So, I am proud to be an Indian. |
