Global Warming, Rise in sea water level, Rise of atmopheric Temperature, melt down of polar regions, depletion of ozone layer, UV radiation and Acid rain

By Navaneethakrishnan Vaidyanathan

When earth is continuously polluted with oxides of Nitrogen, Sulphur-di-oxide,Carbon monoxide and CFC( Chloro Fluro Carbon) atmospheric temperature rises from normal level. Our earth is protected from harmful UV rays entering directly from the Sun by ozone layer.

Ozone layer filters most of UV rays and thus protecting the earth. when chloro fluoro carbon (CFC) is emitted from our house hold refreigerator which goes into the atmosphere and attacks ozone layer and holes are formed in ozone layer. This allows penetration of direct UV rays into the earth causing rise in levels of atmospheric temperature and increase the melt down of polar regions.

UV rays are capable of forming burns on our skin leading to skin cancer. More over severe exposure to UV rays can be more dangerous to human community on the whole. Plants and trees take food by the method called photosynthesis and if UV radiation is very high then this may affect photosynthesis and all plants and trees would be wiped out.

If polar regions start to melt due to rise in atmospheric temperature it will lead to rise in sea water levels and can inundate low lying areas near the coast. If this rise in temperature persists then whole world will go under water one day.

Carbon monoxide plays a bad role in retaining higher temperature and would not allow it cool down or dissipate heat. Oxides of nitrogen and sulphur di oxide are toxins to human body and can cause respiratory diseases to human body on continued exposure. These toxins are emitted from chemical factories and Carbon monoxide emitted from the exhaust pipes of automobile vehicles.

If rains falls in an area containing higher levels of sulphur di oxide this may lead to acid rain. It is high time to stop all these practices that cause damage to our mother earth by using environment friendly products and automobiles to save our planet.
